March 14 (Tuesday) to March 20 (Monday), 2006: The Maoists have announced a general strike and blockade for areas surrounding the capital, Kathmandu, and all 75 district headquarters throughout Nepal. March 30 (Thursday), 2006: According to the Maoist website, the Dalit Liberation Front, affiliated with the Maoists, has called for a Nepal bandh (nationwide shutdown) on this day. Beginning April 3 (Monday), 2006: The Maoists have announced an indefinite strike beginning on this date, which is expected to include disruption of transport services and closure of industries, markets, educational institutes, and offices.
