The government has imposed curfew order in the Kathmandu Valley from 10 am to 9 pm effective from Saturday until further notice.
The curfew has been imposed to ‘foil’ a peaceful political demonstration announced by the seven-party alliance (SPA) in Kathmandu today.
Issuing separate notices, the district administration offices of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have imposed a curfew with the Ring Road areas in Kathmandu and Lalitpur, and on certain places in Bhaktapur and Kirtipur municipality. Residents should not come out of their houses. Security forces could shoot violators or police could arrest them and jail them up to one month," the notices said.
Meanwhile, authorities have disrupted both prepaid and post paid mobile phone services from early Saturday morning. NTC officials said the cell phone services have been disrupted following the government order.
